i have kindle keyboard and kindle dx..thinking about getting the fire hd 8.9". i now its not an ereader but can read books can someone tell me how good/or bad it is compared to the two old kindles i have?the other thing is that i am afraid to get the large fire because it might turn out to be like the dx in that it was so expensive and sold it but never supported it

I've had a regular Kindle (just the reader) for a few years. To charge it, you plug it in to the USB port and it tells you it's charging and/or it tells you (on screen) that you need to press a button if you wish to charge and use it at the same time. I just got a Kindle Fire Gen 2 yesterday. I plugged it in with the supplied USB cable. No matter what I try, the screen says, "Your Kindle may not charge while in use. If you leave it connected, it will charge slowly while the device is asleep." I figured this didn't apply to me since I'm not using it. It's sitting idle. But here it is, two hours later and it's apparent the unit barely charged. So I turned it off and tried to charge it while off. Well, as soon as I plug it in to the USB port, it turns on and I get that same message, "Your Kindle may not charge while in use. If you leave it connected, it will charge slowly while the device is asleep." I tried turning wifi off. No difference. No sign that it's charging and the charging light (on the unit) stays orange. It realized it's connected so it's not like it's a USB problem. So ... my question is - how do I make the Kindle "not in use" so it will actually charge? Thanks

We just bought a Kindle Fire for my Father in Law, and I saw it for the first time yesterday. I was impressed and intrigued.I see that the 3G on the kindle readers is free. My sister in law says the 4G on the Kindle Fire is also free. The description clearly says 3G is free, but no mention either way on the 4G.SO, is the 4G free? If so, is it free for a limited time, or a limited amount per month? If this device has free connection for the life of the device, I gotta get one!
